VESSELS—an exhibition dedicated to the vessel as a form of poetic function.

Housed in its new Hollywood space, SIZED STUDIO, VESSELS will offer a suite of over two hundred objects by artists, designers, architects and studios from around the world. With contributions ranging from vases and planters to furniture and abstract sculptures, SIZED examines the vessel as an object in which matter is held, and creates a survey of works that expands this most basic definition of a container.

Spanning 7,000 square feet and two floors, VESSELS offers a suite of over two hundred vessels by artists, designers, architects and studios from around the world. With contributions ranging from vases and planters to furniture and abstract sculptures, SIZED creative director Alexander May examines the vessel as an object in which matter is held, and creates a survey of works that fit this most basic definition of containers that hold not only floral, but also people and space.

Together, the branch clusters and botanical clippings in concert with the vessels, familiar objects and sculptural forms are revisited, emphasizing shared notions of function, aesthetic and ritual.

“I am interested in revisiting our dialogue with objects that we have familiarity with, in this case, the foundational form of a vessel,” says Alexander May. “When viewed in conjunction with the floral installation, the personality in each piece responds to the Sōgetsu school’s philosophy on genuine thinking and diverse creativity.”

For VESSELS, SIZED has partnered with the Paris-based NFT platform, CONCEPT, on a limited release of 10 works featured within the exhibition. Launching this month, CONCEPT is a curated marketplace to seamlessly buy and sell physical or digital NFT-powered artworks. The participating artists include Emmanuel Olunkwa, Vanessa Beecroft, RA Workshop - Rich Aybar, Lukas Stoever, Rio Estudio, Illya Goldman Gubin, Marc Leschalier, Grace Prince, Klaus Jürgen Schmidt and Tino Seibert.
